We welcome the New Year with a focus on composers from this country. Gustav Holst’s masterpiece The Planets makes a welcome return to the Slaithwaite canon while we also welcome back Joseph Buckmaster and introduce young brass star Claire Marsden for Britten’s evocative Serenade. Regional composer Freddy Naftel’s work, The Legend of Pandora, opens the concert with music from his ballet score.
