Flo has been playing flute since the age of 7 taught first by Nigel Perona Wright then by Kimberley Boyle. She made rapid progress and joined Stoneleigh Training Orchestra in 2020 at the age of 9 where she was first introduced to the piccolo, an instrument that has become a firm favourite. She was then promoted to Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra in 2022 aged only 12.
Since 2023 she has been a member of the National Youth Concert Band, holding the piccolo chair for the last three years. 2024 saw amazing success with Flo being appointed co-principal flute at Stoneleigh, winning the Inter House Music competition at Ashcombe School and winning the Unaccompanied Woodwind Solo, Open Woodwind Recital, and Queens Cup for the overall best player at Reigate and Redhill Music and Drama Festival.
She also won the Concerto Competition at the same festival which gave her the opportunity to play the Liebermann Piccolo Concerto with Redhill Sinfonia. This performance was a great success, and she is delighted to have been invited to repeat the experience with Slaithwaite Philharmonic.
